We need to find God, and he cannot be found in noise and restlessness. God is the friend of silence. See how nature--trees, flowers, grass--grows in silence; see the stars, the moon and the sun, how they move in silence...We need silence to be able to touch souls. --Mother Teresa

Croquet Match

Sunday night we had a family croquet match.

There were requirements to participate.  We had to wear striped shirts.   Even if you had on plaid shorts and refused to change your shirt....you eventually changed.  There were comments--believe me when I tell you that they are not printable on this blog.

There were others who were very proud.  And certainly they thought they would win the game.

And then there was this:

He is very competitive.  He hates to lose.  Yeah.  So he married me.  I don't really care if I win or lose.  In fact, I am adept at losing.  Unless there is something at stake, like loser does the dishes, I don't really care.  Even then, I'll just do the dishes.

Therefore, even though I looked rockin' hot in my striped shirt (1 of 2 that I own) and mesh shorts, I was destined for last place.  And last place is what I got...I was generous and saved someone else from disappointment.

Of course, we all knew who would win.  And then gloat.  But who would have guessed that HE would get second place?

Not him or his twin.  That apple doesn't fall far from the tree.

Just sayin'.

My husband's grandmother had a croquet court in her backyard. She was cut-throat! She grew up playing croquet with her brothers and sisters, and she was good. Looks like fun despite the dress code requirements.

Where is the sweet action shot of somebody getting the gold at the medal ceremony?

I remember playing croquet in the backyard growing up! Good times!
