Some of us (OK...me) suffer from The Small Stuff Is Gonna Put Me Under The Table Disorder. Sometimes I think I can barely stand one more thing and then I come across someone who is truly suffering and I remember that small stuff is just that....small stuff.
These people need our prayers....The Macs. Be prepared to pray fast and fervently. NOW.
We need to find God, and he cannot be found in noise and restlessness. God is the friend of silence. See how nature--trees, flowers, grass--grows in silence; see the stars, the moon and the sun, how they move in silence...We need silence to be able to touch souls. --Mother Teresa

Way Back Wednesday
OK. So it is Way Back Wednesday. And you are asking yourself..."Man, I wonder how old these pics are?" Well, let me tell you.....these pics aren't from Way Back. I just took them last night and really, they aren't all that great. The lighting in my kitchen stinks. But that's another story. It's the stuff in the picture that is Way Back.....yep. That's my stove. And my oven. And yep. They are pink. Well, and could be a whole lot cleaner. But they are pink pink pink. Try not to be jealous.
And yep, those are push buttons on that stove. And yep, these appliances work. Dang it!
I say that because my husband says until the Appliance Guy tells us he can't repair them, we will use them because THEY AREN"T BROKEN. We have lived here for 5+ years, the Appliance Guy hasn't been here once to work on them. Dang it!
In talking to former owners of the home as well as neighbors, we have discovered some interesting facts about our home. The most interesting is that it used to be a 2-story home. Somewhere around 1955, the owners had the second story taken off and the house was reconfigured into a ranch style home. Sort of. We have 10 foot ceilings everywhere and the front door is actually on the wrong side of the house for it to be called a true ranch. But anyway. Back to the appliances.
They were put in during the early 1960's. The family that lived here at the time is still around and when I visited with the daughter, I asked her about the appliances....and get this.....she can remember when they were installed. She said it was the greatest day.....and she asked if the butterfly wallpaper was still here, too. Oh and it was. Isn't that hilarious!?
And the reason we still have these? My husband....well, OK, and me.....believe that we as Americans are very wasteful. We get new stuff just to get new stuff. Things are replaced because a new, better model comes out....not because our old one is broken and can't be fixed. Oh I know, we are a wasteful family, too. But we are trying....to be better.
So until the Appliance Guy shows up and tells us these can't be fixed, we'll just keep using them. It is now a game...how long will they last? Any bets?

Third Grade Boys Basketball
Don't you just love seeing little boys run? It is one of my favorite things....it makes me feel all warm and fuzzy inside....their chubby little legs moving as fast as they can and their little man arms pumping up and down.
A couple of weeks ago my third grade boys played in a tournament and I had the opportunity to see them play. I got lucky because we have 2 third grade boys teams and they played each other....so it was bonus for me.
Do you ever wonder what they are thinking as they are just standing there? Maybe we don't really want to know...............
My other Favorite Lane in his I-am-sooo-cooolll-tall socks. I giggled when I saw him....he's all about the "look". LOVE IT!!!
And guess what? We had a celebrity attend! The boys were all googoogaagaa because he was there. This isn't the first time they have played his people's team but it is the first time he has been to our place. How cool is that!

Tourney Night Three--The Finals!
The Tigers played great....it was fun to watch and the boys played hard....and I really thought we would win, but no. It was not to be! Dang it! I so wanted them to win...the Seniors are such great guys...they deserve to have success! Well, anyway, they are currently 10-2....so who knows what good things will come to them in February! Thanks, Tigers for a great tournament!

Way Back Wednesday
Remember When They Were Cute?
I think College Girl might have been 7 and FrickandFrack 3. Or they might have been 6 and 2. Or 8 and 4. Um, not really sure. Time goes too fast. And I didn't write on the back of the photo because at this stage of our lives, we were just lucky to have a picture. Heck, I am not even sure if I took this picture.
In my mind they still look like this....all cute and sweet and innocent. Kinda like I still look 22 in my mind. Well, maybe 23.
And this is when they liked me best...because I was in charge of the snacks. They still like me best....they just don't know it.

Miles and Miles of Smiles Minus One
My Favorite Lane is missing a tooth! She lost it a week ago while eating a chicken strip. And boy is she proud of it! Not real sure how she fared with the Tooth Fairy....
And then, since I am a sucker for her smile,I let her use my camera to take a picture of her Aunt P (I am also a sucker for her smile....I can't seem to say no to her, either)
and these two. I am extremely surprised that they didn't break the camera. I am not a sucker for Big Guy's smile. I am not. I am not. I am not. Really, I am not.
One of these days I am sure my insides will stop melting when my Favorite Lane smiles. Man, I hope that day is a long way off...........

Way Back Wednesday
Wednesdays are going to be my "Way Back" posts. Starting today. Since it is Wednesday. For 3 more hours....and I am not going to be awake for it to be Thursday morning....early morning....like before the paper comes and the only thing on TV is infomercials. I better not be...its not like I control this not sleeping thing. This woman does....
My grandmother. Grandma Hillbilly to me. Grandma Bel to my children. Oh, how I miss her...she was the greatest grandma a person could ever have and she was mine for 38 years. I was lucky...she liked me best. Most of my family likes me best. Just ask my brother.
Recently, I have been accused of being my grandmothers' child. I take this as a compliment.
She and Grandpa married in September, 1944. This picture was taken a month later. She was 20 and he was 27. Grandpa was in the Navy during WWII. I am not real sure where they are at in this picture. Maybe California. They were married just over 50 years when Grandpa died (he liked me best, too!). 3 kids, 5 grandchildren--and 3 great-grandchildren. Now that's living.
Life wasn't always easy for my grandparents and yet, they stuck it out.
I am proud to be their grandchild.

Great Things
I love grain elevators. Imagine all the time and effort that went into putting this structure here. And then imagine how much it meant to this community to have a grain elevator.
I was raised in an area where grain elevators are plentiful and I took them for granted. Then I moved north.
I must confess that I did not take this picture. My friend took this picture with my camera as I was driving us home from a conference today.

Wedding
So we went to Oklahoma City this weekend to a wedding. It was a beautiful event in a spectacular venue. It took place on the second floor of the OKC Farmers Market. We enjoyed being a part of the bride and grooms special day.
The back of the dress is always my favorite...And I really love this shot because it is looking between her grandpa and mom.
The bride's aunt read a passage to the couple.........
Wouldn't we like to know what the groom is thinking about now...........not so much.
The father daughter dance is my favorite part of the whole evening. Guess who loves her daddy?
