We need to find God, and he cannot be found in noise and restlessness. God is the friend of silence. See how nature--trees, flowers, grass--grows in silence; see the stars, the moon and the sun, how they move in silence...We need silence to be able to touch souls. --Mother Teresa

Way Back Wednesday

Well today is the day. We have been married for 20 years. Can you believe it? It is amazing to us that 20 years have passed--and it has been a fast 20 years. I still feel like I am 22 on the inside...although, my outsides tell a slightly different story.

Pictures in 1989 were quite an expense. My mom forked over a pretty penny for these photos. At the time, I really thought we probably could do without the whole deal...engagement pics, tons of wedding pics, big leather bound photo album. Once again, my mom proved to me that she is has been will always be a very wise woman.....having all these pics 20 years later is priceless. The joy that I felt when I dug out the photo album last night was, well I don't have words for it. Then when my little lovelies started through the album, again it was...well, indescribable.

My advice--Get the pics--it is worth it.

These first two horrible pics are from our engagement photos....man, they sucked. There are probably 25 pictures and these are the two best. Tells you how bad the other 23 are. Last night when I dug them out, I just started cracking up. And then my little lovelies started laughing OUT LOUD at us...not even close to laughing with us.

I believe there were two comments made repeatedly....Dad looks drunk and nice hair.

I loved these sweaters. These pics were taken in the fall of 1988 during the height of allergy season. It was probably 90 degrees outside. Mr. Wonderful looked at me like I was plum crazy....man, have I seen that look a few times in 20 years! Oh, you say you've seen it too? Maybe it has been more than a few times....

On to the Wedding Day....

My dad and my brother.....

My favorite mother-in-law being escorted by her youngest son.....isn't she gorgeous? Yep. And she has her tissues all ready....

The groom and his buddies.....man, we miss those guys.......

Our favorites......both grown-ups now with children of their own......and paybacks are hell. My mom made these dresses as well as the bridesmaid dresses. A couple of years ago she used the leftover fabric to make me a blanket. It's my favorite blanket to take a summertime nap under......

My brother hauling me down the aisle.....

Here we are with our Favorite Priest............

My Grandma and Grandpa Hillbilly...and yep, those are Budweiser suspenders...........he liked me best....the ornery stinkpot.

And the woman who made everything possible.....My mom. Just as gorgeouslywonderfullybeautiful as she will always be......and she likes me best. Just ask my brother.....

And Mr. and Mrs. Hays....

Happy Anniversary! 20 years is indeed a monumental cause for celebration! Great pictures, great family - I don't care what your lovelies have to say about it. I've got boxes of pictures that will come back to bite them someday. I promise!

Congratulations on 20 years! That's awesome. Especially these days. You looked smokin hot in that sweater. So did Big Guy!

Yes, it's true, I am quite the snake slayer. So, if you ever need my services when I am back in town just give me a call!
